Wisdom as a Legacy

"Wisdom as a Legacy" is a documentary about the transfer of knowledge and skills from one generation to the next. The younger generation teaches us about TikTok, while the older generation teaches us how to make traditional apple juice. This short film was produced as part of the Uneton48Docs challenge in 2025.

Kristian Pekkala, screenwriter, director, cinematographer, and editor. Kristian has made several short films and documentaries that have been successful at international film festivals, bringing home awards for Best Documentary and Best Film from Miami. Kristian has also directed music videos for several songs. He has no formal training in the field but is self-taught through hands-on experience.

Maria Heikkilä, performer, makeup artist for Villafilmi’s short films, and actress. She has studied theatrical makeup at the Varsinais-Suomi Folk High School. She enjoys dancing and music. She is also always actively involved in catering.

Satu Pekkala, performer. She also handles catering for nearly every short film. She has also served as a driver for the actors and film crew on other productions.

Aune Kujala, performer, juice maker, and owner of the filming location. Several short films have been shot at Aune’s place, and the location lends itself to just about any genre. Aune has also taken charge of catering for all the shoots. Creator of a juice press made from a drill.

Niklas Väyliö has been working as a sound engineer at Villafilmi for several years. He has the knowledge and skills when it comes to sound. Niklas has also served as a problem-solver on set, as he has a solution for every challenge. Kristian has produced several episodes of a web series with Niklas for the City of Hyvinkää during the pandemic.

Siiri, the production dog, who—with a bit of luck—stayed in front of the camera for a moment. She doesn’t like being in front of the camera; she’d rather be behind it. Apples were her favorite treat, probably because they reminded her of balls.
