Marianne Vaalimaa

Marianne Vaalimaa is a Finnish circus artist whose work combines hula hoops, jump rope, acrobatics, and warm-hearted performance. She graduated from the Turku University of Applied Sciences Academy of Arts in 2019, specializing in partner acrobatics and hula hoops, but soon after graduation she also discovered the possibilities of freestyle jump rope.

Vaalimaa’s connection to the circus and street performance began in Rome in 2007, and creating his own street show became a long-held dream of his. Later, working as a production assistant at a circus festival reinforced his desire to be on stage himself. He began training in acrobatics, worked as an instructor in social circus, and eventually enrolled in circus school.

Vaalimaa performs in Finland and internationally, particularly in outdoor and street performances. Her stage persona emphasizes playfulness, openness, and the joy shared with the audience. Simple and portable props, such as hoops and a jump rope, transform in her hands into energetic, physical, and accessible circus art.
