Jussi TwoSeven
Jussi TwoSeven is a Helsinki-based visual artist with a background in street art. For over a decade, his artistic practice has consisted primarily of exhibitions centered on paintings and the creation of large-scale public works, such as murals.
In addition to many Finnish cities, Jussi’s public art and murals have been commissioned throughout Europe, including in Sweden, Norway, Germany, France, and Switzerland.
Jussi TwoSeven often draws inspiration for his work from his surroundings and nature; furthermore, site-specificity plays an important role in his practice. Through his public art, Jussi aims to enliven the urban landscape and integrate the surrounding nature into the built environment.
Jussi grew up surrounded by street art and graffiti, and most of his tools stem from this background—the majority of his paintings are created using spray paint. His self-developed painting technique, combined with Finnish animals, has evolved over the years into a visual identity that is easily recognizable as his own.
Jussi uses stencils as an aid in his paintings, but leaving brushstrokes—such as drips and splatters—visible is characteristic of his style. Jussi uses exactly the same painting technique whether he is creating massive murals the size of a house facade or small works on paper.
Jussi TwoSeven's works are included in the collections of the HAM, Pori, Vantaa, Kerava, and Hyvinkää art museums, among others.
